English language learning is essential for navigating systems and services in the United States. ReEstablish Richmond offers English classes designed for beginner level language learners that experience barriers to accessing other community English classes.

Our classes center around conversational English and important literacy skills and include opportunities to apply these skills to real-life situations, such as filling out an application or getting a library card. We are able to offer these classes through the support of volunteers and community partners.

We seek to connect our newest neighbors with reliable and high-quality opportunities for improving English language proficiency that sets them up to continue learning English independently after the class ends.

Highlights from the past year:

4 beginner level classes held

120 hours of instruction offered

40 clients successfully completed a class

525 individual rides provided to clients who could not otherwise attend one of our classes

Even though we are from another faith, [Good Shepherd UMC] welcomed us and gave us room for our classes. We felt accepted and welcome. We could learn together.
