Getting Started as an English Tutor
English Tutor Kit-
ReEstablish Richmond provides a basic English Tutor Kit including an Oxford Picture Dictionary, whiteboard, folder, notebook, and some guiding resources. Tutors are strongly encouraged to schedule a time with our team to pick up at kit within the first two weeks of working with a client. At the pick-up, our team will go over expectations and share resources for getting started with your client.
English Tutor Training-
We hold quarterly ESL Trainings in person for our volunteers, usually in September, December, March, and May. In our training, we go over best practices in tutoring adult language learners in a 1:1 setting as well as give volunteers space to troubleshoot challenges together. These will be led by an expert ESL teacher and ReEstablish Richmond staff who will be available to answer your questions. Please check volunteer newsletters for upcoming training times.
The next training will take place Tuesday, September 2 from 6:30-8:30 PM, at 2705 Park Avenue
To RSVP for this training, please email: volunteers@reestablishrichmond.org
If you are not able to attend a training in-person, you can access past trainings below.
