Community Survey: Health in Henrico County

Did you know that the majority of refugees in the Richmond area are being resettled in Henrico County? ReEstablish Richmond believes that refugee voices matter and that they add value to the greater community. That is why ReEstablish Executive Director, Kate Ayers, sat in on Henrico County's Community Health Assessment, or "CHA".

According to Paige Philips, CHA coordinator for the Virginia Department of Health, a CHA reviews the environment and resources where people live, work, learn, play, and worship. The ultimate goal of the CHA is to understand how to best serve Henrico residents and improve health outcomes within all populations. In an effort to gain qualitative data, a community survey was conducted in the Spring of 2017 to form a better understanding of community issues, concerns and perceptions of quality of life across the county. Survey results are in! Over 1,300 residents told us what they think most affects the health of Henrico.

Take a closer look at what matters most to community members:

The survey is one point on a multi-phase roadmap towards improving our community’s health. In the coming Fall months, goals and objectives for each priority health issue identified from the CHA will be developed. Become involved and help Henrico reach their vision for success, “A community where opportunities to make healthy choices are embraced, prioritized, and promoted for everyone in Henrico”.
